Jersey War Tunnels museum is a top tourist attraction on the island and is an excellent place for a day out,it tells the story of what island life was like during German occupation in world war two,you wander through underground tunnels that were built by the Germans to use as a hospital.

The tunnels lead to an assortment of rooms which take you along the various stages of jerseys occupation, starting with the arrival of the Germans through to island liberation.

It is a very interesting museum with plenty to see and lots of interactive displays, there is also a lovely cafe on site and a well stocked gift shop.

I first visited the Jersey War tunnels in the early 90’s with my parents - I remember it being really bizar as the temperature outside was scorching hot, but as soon as we got inside it was so so cold!

I returned to Jersey last year with my other half and daughter and decided to visit the War Tunnels again.

The war tunnels were originally built as a German hospital during the occupation of Jersey during the 2nd World War - although they were never used for this purpose.

Now the tunnels tell the story of the occupation of Jersey - They show it through the perspective of the Germans, and of course of the islanders.

There are lots of thought provoking videos, and artifacts to see and you really get into the atmosphere of the tunnels

It’s a really interesting place to visit, and if you’re holidaying in Jersey - then a visit to the tunnels is a must!
