Jersey War Tunnels re-opens with launch of Liberation themed exhibitions and season pass ticket
Jersey War Tunnels will be re-opening its doors to the public on Saturday 15th February with a new Liberation themed exhibition.
Commemorating Liberation 75
The attraction, which tells the true story of the Occupation through the words of the people who were there, will be launching its new exhibit, The Liberation Walk, on its opening day. This will be closely followed by a ‘first of its kind in Jersey’ exhibit which will open in May, ahead of Liberation 75. The attraction will also be introducing new ticket types, including a season pass ticket, which will launch this spring.
Jersey War Tunnels’ Operations Manager, Kathy Bechelet, said: ‘At Jersey War Tunnels we invest significantly into the attraction every year. We spend the winter months developing new exhibits as well as refurbishing existing ones, ensuring that visitors have a new experience every time they visit us. This year is an incredibly special year as we celebrate Liberation 75 and as such we have invested heavily in two new exhibitions – The Liberation Walk and another, incredibly exciting, Liberation themed exhibit, which could be described as an island first.
‘Our first new exhibit, which opens on 15th February, The Liberation Walk, provides a moving insight into what islanders were doing on Liberation day itself, how they celebrated this momentous occasion and how they felt on seeing the ‘Tommies’ who had come to set them free. It is a heart-warming and uplifting conclusion to the Occupation journey that visitors are taken on throughout the attraction.’
Season Passes & Off Peak Tickets
Jersey War Tunnels will also, for the first time, be introducing two new ticket types. From later this spring visitors will be able to buy off peak tickets, which allow entry to the tunnels from 2pm at a discounted price.
The attraction, which is visited by around 90,000 people per year, will also be introducing its first season pass. The season pass can be used from the date of purchase until the last day of the season, 15th November 2020. There is no limit to the number of visits that pass holders can make during this period.
“We are always looking for ways to improve our visitor experience and as such have reviewed our ticket types. We recognise that many islanders have visiting friends and family who may be interested in Jersey War Tunnels. By offering a season pass, islanders will be able to join their friends and family at the tunnels by using their season pass as many times as they like throughout the season. Our off peak ticket will also give visitors to the attraction the option to make a saving by visiting at our most quiet time,” added Kathy Bechelet.
From Saturday 15th February 2020-15th November 2020, Jersey War Tunnels will be open Monday to Sunday from 9:30am-5:30pm (between 1st November-15th November JWT closes at 3:30pm). Standard tickets can be purchased online at jerseywartunnels.com now while the two new ticket types will be available online from late spring.
