21- Apr -2005 Local cast from Holocaust play called to perform the play at City Hall in London
The cast and crew of Jersey War Tunnels production of 'And Then They Came for Me: Remembering the World of Anne Frank' have been invited to perform the play at City Hall in London.

The local production of the play will be performed in association with the London theatre company; The Blue Sky Club, supporters of which include politicians and influential members of the business, entertainment and media industries.

Founder of the theatre company, Nic Careem invited the cast to the UK after seeing the local production at Jersey War Tunnels.

The multi media play, which is based on the lives of Ed Silverberg and Eva Schloss, two Jewish teenagers who survived the Holocaust, and their relationships with Anne Frank, was directed by Jersey born actress Joanna Woodbridge and was fully booked for its entire run.

Eva Schloss visited the Island to assist with the auditions for the local cast from a number of GCSE and A level students. She was also present throughout the run of the play and held a discussion session with the audience after each performance.

According to Eva, the unique and poignant location of Jersey War Tunnels made the local production one to remember.

"The production of 'And Then They Came for Me, Remembering the World of Anne Frank' was particularly poignant in many ways. The actors were teenagers from local schools. Their age corresponded with the main characters in the play and made the tragic events of the war years much more real. Furthermore the venue in Jersey War Tunnels evoked memories of the Occupation and of the plight of prisoners of war and forced labourers. A very chilling reminder of the past! I am so happy that the excellent Jersey production will be shown to London audiences."
